The Shipyard team is gearing up for DeveloperWeek 2025 in Santa Clara! While we plan our itineraries, we wanted to share a few of our notes here on the blog.

The Venue

This year’s DeveloperWeek takes place at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Our team saw the space two years ago for API World — it’s pretty large, but not particularly difficult to navigate. There’s free parking in a garage next door.

The conference will be set up with an open floorplan: there will be a large expo with a sea of sponsor booths. There will also be a coffee bar, lawn games, and other enrichment activities.

Stages will be off to the sides, some within the expo, and some within adjoining rooms. There is a second floor, which hosts stages for a handful of the co-located conferences.

Conferences

DeveloperWeek hosts several specialized conferences within the venue, so you can direct your attention towards the ones that most interest you. You’ll be able to float between them throughout the day.

  • AI DevWorld
  • ProductWorld
  • CloudNative World
  • Frontend World
  • Dev Exec World
  • OpsWorld
  • Dev Security World
  • Dev Innovation World
  • OWASP
  • OpenAPI Summit

Most talks will be located on their designated conference stage, except for keynotes, which will be on the main stage.

Sessions You Won’t Want to Miss

With over 250 sessions and ten concurrent conferences, there’s no shortage of interesting content at this year’s DeveloperWeek. Here are a few that we’re especially excited about.

DeveloperWeek main stage

Wednesday, February 12th

11-11:25 AM: DevEx isn’t Just for Developers, Benjie De Groot (CloudNative World)

Shipyard co-founder Benjie De Groot will be discussing how developer experience initiatives impact everyone involved in the SDLC, beyond developers themselves. A lot of DevEx principles are universal to any team: self-service, quality documentation, optimized workflows, etc. And when developers are unblocked and moving quickly, other stakeholders follow.

11:30-11:55 AM: Spice Up Your Mobile Design System: The Secret Sauce of Accessibility in React Native, Cecilia Geraldo (Frontend World)

Cecilia will be sharing how developers can incorporate accessible best-practices in their React apps. She’ll show how you can develop your component library to be consistent and cohesive.

2-2:25 PM: From DevEx Disaster to Delight: How to Champion a DevEx Revolution in Your Organization, Jeremy Meiss (Dev Exec World)

Jeremy will be addressing one of the most difficult parts of DevEx: getting it adopted at the team-level. He’ll share some helpful tools, frameworks, and culture changes that can help with the initial lift.

Thursday, February 13th

10-10:25 AM: Elevating Cloud Security with a Graph-Based Approach, Roy Maor (OpsWorld)

A graph theory-based approach to cloud security means mapping your cloud environment to a graph database to keep track of all possible edges. Roy will discuss how graph theory and continuous mapping help you identify risks and keep track of current configurations.

11-11:25 AM: The History of Auth, Alex Patterson (OpsWorld)

Alex will walk through the history of auth and access management, taking it back all the way to ancient times with wax seals, and ending with SSO and biometrics.

1-1:25 PM: The Laws of UX & UI Design, Andrew Peterson (OpsWorld)

This is a crash course in common UX/UI rules, during which attendees will learn how to design and build a well-designed frontend. Andrew will share background on why we follow these rules, and how they improve an app or site’s experience.

Other conference activities

DeveloperWorld also has some non-session events and attractions, so you can relax, recover, and network throughout the event.
